Brett Dana Mikkelson is a strategic risk advisory and investigations professional with decades of experience supporting clients across Latin America. He is the Founder and CEO of M1 Consultants, Inc and owns the International brand for "B.M. Investigations".  "M1" is a Panama-based firm that provides integrated risk advisory, intelligence, and investigative services to multinational corporations, law firms, and financial institutions operating in complex environments.

Mr. Mikkelson’s work is focused on helping organizations identify, assess, and mitigate risk across areas including fraud, regulatory exposure, reputational threats, and cross-border operations. By combining deep investigative capability with forward-looking risk analysis, he supports clients in making informed decisions in high-risk and uncertain markets.

He currently serves as the Executive Regional Director for Latin America for the Council of International Investigators(CII), where he contributes to the advancement of professional standards and the expansion of the organization’s global network. He previously served as President of CII in 2018.

A former U.S. Army Interrogator, Mr. Mikkelson brings specialized expertise in human behavior, elicitation techniques, and intelligence operations... skills that enhance his advisory approach in complex investigative and risk scenarios.

Brett Mikkelson, Founder and Director of B.M. Investigations, Inc. is a Panama based investigative and risk advisory professional with more than three decades of operational experience throughout Latin America and the Caribbean having lived and worked in Panama since 1994. He has directed complex investigations intelligence operations due diligence assignments asset tracing matters fraud investigations and strategic risk advisory projects for multinational corporations law firms insurers financial institutions and private clients across the Americas.

Brett combines traditional investigative methodologies with human intelligence HUMINT open source intelligence OSINT regional source networks and field operations to provide actionable intelligence and discreet support in complex and sensitive environments. His experience includes corporate investigations enhanced due diligence insurance fraud investigations surveillance litigation support workplace investigations executive protection intelligence anti counterfeiting investigations organized crime exposure assessments geopolitical and operational risk analysis and cross border investigative matters throughout the region.

Prior to founding B.M. Investigations Brett served in United States Army Military Intelligence and US Special Operation assignments throughout Latin America and later expanded in private investigative intelligence and regional risk advisory. He currently serves as Executive Regional Director of the Council of International Investigators CII and is recognized for his longstanding work in private investigations corporate intelligence and strategic risk advisory services across the Americas.
